Aquatics Leadership Program
WHAT:
Students are eligible to earn high school credits as well as earning qualifications to be trained as a lifeguard certified to work anywhere in Canada. Students will earn (up to): Emergency First Aid, Standard First Aid + CPR + AED; Bronze Medallion & Bronze Cross Certification; National Lifeguard Program, Instructors* (not all at the same time).
WHO IS ELIGIBLE:
This program is open to all public, private, and Catholic school students. Some age restrictions will be enforced due to lifeguard certification guidelines. In order to be certified for the National Lifeguard Service (NLS), students must be 16 years old by the end of the course. However, prep courses can be completed at age 14. You must also be a strong swimmer.
WHEN/WHERE:
Courses are offered in Part 1 and Part 2 in locations throughout Simcoe and Muskoka.
Where: The credit portion of this program will be delivered by remote learning (online) using Brightspace/D2L Learning Management System and will have scheduled synchronous instruction, September 2024 to June 2025.
Part 1 PAQ2O Healthy Living and Aquatic Activities
This course enables students to further develop the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy choices now and lead healthy, active lives in the future. Through participation in a wide range of physical activities, students develop knowledge and skills related to movement competence and personal fitness that provide a foundation for active living. Students also acquire an understanding of the factors and skills that contribute to healthy development and learn how their own well-being is affected by, and affects, the world around them. Students build their sense of self, learn to interact positively with others, and develop their ability to think critically and creatively.
Part 2 PAQ3O Healthy Living and Aquatic Activities
This course enables students to further develop the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy choices now and lead healthy, active lives in the future. Through participation in a wide range of physical activities and exposure to a broader range of activity settings, students enhance their movement competence, personal fitness, and confidence. Students also acquire an understanding of the factors and skills that contribute to healthy development and learn how their own well-being is affected by, and affects, the world around them. Students build their sense of self, learn to interact positively with others, and develop their ability to think critically and creatively.

NOTE: Credits are valid with all school boards whether you are with the Catholic, public, or private high school system. Attendance and participation at all sessions are mandatory
