Learn About Canada, Simcoe County and Barrie Area

Designed for students entering Grades 6–12 in September 2026, this immersive program helps newcomers navigate Canadian life while discovering the unique history and beauty of Simcoe County.

What Students Will Explore:

  • National Knowledge: Learn about the levels of Canadian government, the justice system, and how media messages work in Canada.

  • Explore: our local region.

  • Community Integration: Visit the Mayor’s office, local recreation centers, and gyms.

  • Practical Life Skills: Master the city bus system, learn how to open a bank account, and practice filling out official forms.

  • Local History: Gain an appreciation for the area’s heritage, from its Indigenous roots to its growth as one of Ontario's fastest-growing regions.

To ensure the best experience, our program uses a hybrid model:

  • June 29 – 30: In-Person (Orientation & Community Kick-off)

  • July 1: Remote Online (Canada Day Special Learning)

  • July 2 – July 10: In-Person (Daily classroom and community activities)

🎓 ESL/ELD High School Credit Courses

For students entering Grades 9–12, we offer a comprehensive ESL program with a path to graduation.

  • Earn a Credit: Complete a four-week course to earn one high school credit.  Visit your School Guidance Department to register.

  • Language Mastery: Focus on speaking, listening, reading, and writing in a supportive environment.

  • Virtual Learning: Engage in interactive online lessons while also participating in local community exploration.
