Greetings Families of International Languages Programs:

We are pleased to advise you that our SMCDSB International Languages Programs will be starting up virtually for the New Year! The program will run from Saturday, January 16, 2021 to Saturday, May 15, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.
For Students in grades JK - Grade 8 (open to children of all school boards)

Students of International Languages Virtual programs will participate Saturday mornings in **synchronous and asynchronous learning within the 2 ½ hour time.

Information about the NEW International Languages Virtual Program

We are happy to announce that we have the following languages available for ILP virtual:  Spanish, Italian, Polish, Portuguese and Mandarin.

Registrations will be first come, first served; there is a max number of students that we can assign to one instructor.
Accounts will be created for students to log into the ILP Brightspace Learning platform. These will be emailed to families with instructions;

Instructors will set up times within the two and half hour program for **synchronous and asynchronous learning;  Students must have a computer or device with internet access

**Synchronous learning: Learning that happens in real time with an instructor online
Asynchronous learning: Learning that is not delivered in real time.
Asynchronous learning may involve students watching pre-recorded video lessons, completing assigned tasks and activities
Some lessons may require to be printed from the Brightspace platform.  For families who do not have the option of printing, instructors will have workbooks.  We will communicate with you for a drive up location and time to pick up these resources. ILP hopes to continue our programs virtually online until we can once again offer it face to face. That being said we would like to remind families that this program is for your child(ren).  Parents/Guardians, especially of young children may have to help them log on and help submit work or print some assignments for the program, but we ask that as a parent/guardian you let your child be the participant. If you have feedback for a Saturday’s class you will be provided with contact information to do so.

International Languages Programs are still FREE!

Registration for Online International Languages.

We look forward to this unique opportunity.
